ALUMNI IN FOCUS
Princess Latimore
This is one of our most successful alumni yet! Graduating in 2004 with an associate degree in business, she has gone on to do exciting and new things. Check out how she has used her degree and work experience here at Globe to follow her dreams and become the owner and manager of her own business.
Growing up in Queens, Princess Latimore graduated from Springfield High School. Upon graduation, she enrolled at Globe Institute of Technology and completed her associate degree in a little less than 2 years. Once finished, she then went on to work for Greenpeace as a recruiter and fundraiser. Her increasing interest in movies, music and film led her to the Digital Film Academy in Manhattan where she became certified in Final Cut Pro editing.
While in school, she started to create her business. She started as a casting director; associate producer on music videos, student films, editing work- production and editing. After her experiences and her business education from Globe Institute she landed her dream job- sole proprietor of her own company, “New Dimension Productions”. Created in 2005, her company specializes in independent films, documentaries and short movies. Her public relations strategy is grassroots through word of mouth and connections through business associates, friends and family.
Additionally, Latimore is associated with www.communion.tv. Members of the community can find her contact information and ways to hire her for service.
Plans to expand:
Although Latimore is very pleased with how far she has come, she is far from satisfied. She has plans for expansion. Along with her music producing fiancé, she plans to move to Tennessee where she and her family can open a studio on their property. There, both she and her husband can work on their companies together. She does plan to keep an office here in New York.
Words of Wisdom:
For those of you dreaming about your future career goals and life, here are a few words of advice from our very own alumn: “Stick to it, stay in school, do what you have to go do to get what you want and you’ll get it”, Latimore says, “If you really want something bad enough you can do it. No matter what!”
Latimore is always looking how she can build on what she learned at Globe and in life. She believes the most important piece of advice she can share is “Don’t work with your sight, work with your vision.”
